Ranch style hotel in the countryside of South Iceland boasting of its own horse farm, Fosshotel Ingolfur, which was opened just in summer 2001, is situated in South Iceland, between Hveragerdi and Selfoss. Fosshotel is a group of 11 excellent tourist class hotels at very scenic locations and strategic points around Iceland. The hotel is an hour from Reykjavik and 90 km from Keflavik International Airport is located 4 km off the town of Selfoss in the countryside of South Iceland. A golf course in Selfoss is within 4 km from the hotel. Shopping area is also found at the Selfoss town center. Gullfoss Waterfall and Geysir Hot Springs are worth the hour's drive. Gullfoss (The Golden waterfall) is Iceland's most famous waterfall, and one of the natural wonders of the world. It is in the mighty glacial river Hvita (White river), just a few kilometers from another natural wonder, the world-famous Geysir. The enormous white glacial cascade drops 32 metres into a narrow canyon; which is 70 metres deep and 2.5 kilometres long. Its spectacular two-tiered cataract hangs in the air like fine drizzle, which forms a rainbow in the sunlight. In winter it has an unusual appearance when it is garbed in ice and snow. Nearer the hotel are the Thingvellir National Park (30 km) and the Hveragerdi Green House village some seven kilometers away. On the premises is a horse farm with around 60 horses and a big riding hall. A riding tour on an Icelandic horse is for both beginners and advanced riders an unforgettable adventure. The nearest bus stop is in Selfoss, 4 km from the hotel. Rooms are spacious with a sitting area and a private hot tub.
