The Lighthouse Inn is a first class hotel located in a pleasant neighborhood on the south shore of New London, Connecticut. Situated 10 miles from Groton-New London Airport, this Mediterranean style mansion is an American Classic. In 1902 steel magnate Charles S. Guthrie built his country home overlooking Long Island Sound and called it Meadow Court after the wildflowers, which surrounded it. The famous landscape architect, Frederick Law Olmstead, who also designed Central Park in New York, designed the 4.5-acre grounds. Meadow Court became a focal point for society events and a retreat for film stars including Bette Davis and Joan Crawford.
