The Lake View Hotel is a deluxe hotel located on Mackinac Island, near the Ferry Docks. This unique and historical hotel is open only during the summer months, when it provides a vacation experience unlike any other. From the moment you step off the ferry boat, you'll understand why Mackinac Island is a destination unto itself. There are no cars here. Just horse drawn carriages, Victorian cottages and a Historic Village suspended in 19th Century charm. Peace and quiet are yours when you want them. So are scenic adventures on this enchanting Island, where Michigan's peninsulas meet. Originally built in 1858, and completely renovated and expanded in 1985, Lake View Hotel is Mackinac Island's oldest continuously operated hotel and is a registered Michigan Historic Site. The Lake View features 85 unique guest rooms, beautifully furnished in the Victorian style, with the appointments preferred by today's modern traveler. The hotel's facilities include a restaurant and pub, complete banquet facilities and specialty shops on site. At the center of the hotel, a beautiful atrium encloses an indoor heated pool, whirlpool and sauna. There are no cars on this island, but guests may get around using the horse-drawn taxis that serve as public transport on the island. The Lake View Hotel is convenient to fine dining, shopping and entertainment venues.
